DAISY ROUNDUP.

Day 4 Daisy 2012

I walked into my house Saturday afternoon, dropped my bag, walked straight into the bedroom, lay down on my bed and proceeded to stay in the exact same position for the next two hours. From the stories going around that evening, I wasn’t the only one.

At large CrossFit is currently awash with drama, controversy, divorce, finger pointing, and negativity. We don’t know what will come down from the top tomorrow, nor who’s agenda it is most likely furthering.

What has been forgotten by those at the top of the CF food chain and been overshadowed by the competition circuit is this – CrossFit is not the Games. CrossFit is not Reebok. Nor is it Anthos. It is nothing but the collective energy of us, its people.

We are CrossFit and on Saturday you all got to see our community at its finest. What you felt and experienced last weekend is what this entire sport has been built on. That’s the juice of the program, that’s the x-factor we have so much trouble explaining to people. It’s community in ways that most people never get to experience.

Gyms from Northern California, CrossFit Santa Barbara, CrossFit Ohana, CrossFit 5 Cities, CrossFit Newbury Park, CrossFit Carpinteria (seriously, these guys ruled the raffle), Goodland, FAST, and even SB’s finest showed up this weekend to throw down for Daisy. No sponsorships needed. No prize money awarded. And it was as CrossFit as CrossFit gets.

Saturday’s event never would have come about were it not for a considerable amount of effort by a vast array of people. Campbell and Ana have put in a ton of overtime making Day 4 Daisy happen and we never could have pulled it off without so many CPC’ers giving up their Saturday to direct, to coach, to time, to cheer, to help in any way that they could.

Eric, Baker and I really appreciate how much you all embraced Day 4 Daisy and made it your own. It was a day that I know I will never forget and one on a long list since coming to SB where I went home shaking my head at how lucky I am to be a part of something so special.

Well done everyone. Thank you for an amazing day on every level.

tb/em/jb and your entire CPC team.

this event restored some of my faith in crossfit. there is a lot of bullshit out there in our community these days and it was refreshing to be reminded that there is still a ton of good as well. thanks for being awesome guys and gals.

I, like my sons, am a simple man. Chicken Good. Pillow good. Breasts really really good. Like Kristin, I too care not a whit of what goes on above and beyond our local box. Give me our local CF community, the daily wod, Fielding screaming in my ear and all is right in the world. Saturday was an absolutely wonderful morning and I truly hope Daisy is getting her treatment and it is making a difference for her. It was also great to see our local law enforcement step up and get involved without having done crossfit before. (Now those folks should be plenty sore today because they went for it) Great job by all!! Aug

Well said, Traver - it WAS completely awesome. Great job by everyone who organized that whole event - top notch stuff. I am blissfully unaware of any drama up in the Crossfit Castle, wherever that may be, and I'll remain so. What I saw this weekend at CFPC was amazing, and that's the entirely of my small Crossfit experience. I loved it. Also ... am I the ONLY one who is sore ?? What the hell did you people do to me on Saturday ?!?
