FAIRWELL TO THE BROGRE

This is one of those posts that I love to write and hate to write. I love it because it means that the person of note has made touched all of us with their presence and that is truly the magical part of what we do. I hate to write them because it usually means that this person is leaving our community.

Brent, or Brogre as he’s affectionately known around these parts has been with us literally since Day 1. We met Brent at our Grand Opening three years ago as a good friend of Migs and Su. He also appeared to be some kind of genetic mutant freak height wise.

It was great to meet someone who was so polite, respectful, and as a teacher of children with disabilities, a person of high moral standard. Then we really got to know him…

I love Brogre because when he’s in a class I know for a fact that the following will happen:

· He will work his ass off
· He will come in dead last rather than cheat a single rep
· My Mom will most likely be insulted
· Every single person in the room will get encouragement, regardless of how long they’ve been here or their talent level
· It will be insinuated that Eric and I are really a couple and that River has two mommies.
· Anyone who needs help on form or technique can count on accurate help from Brogre
· I can count on help getting the paralettes down from the rafters. Without a ladder.
· He will most likely tell the most disgusting story I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
· Every single person in the room will get congratulated after their workout, regardless of what place they came in.

Brogre has left a lasting effect on our community, all for the positive. He’s made us laugh a million times, keeps Hogans from talking too much, and shows up for every single event.

Outside of CPC is where Brent really shines though. He’s leaving us to pursue his Ph.D at Syracuse University, and has been personally financing trips around the world with the mission of creating educational systems for children with disabilities in developing countries.

That my friends, is a noble task and speaks to the heart of the man dedicating his life to the endeavor.

Brogre, we’re going to miss you a ton. You’ve been a huge part of our lives for the past 3 years and we hope that SB calls you back as soon as possible. Thank you for all of the support, all of the oversized hugs, and most importantly for being there from the beginning and keeping us laughing the whole way through.
We love you and wish you nothing but the best in your next chapter. Please dress warmly.

Much love,
River and his two Mommies

This is a day late but I couldn't pass without letting you know that I second the thoughts of everyone above. I was just getting used to seeing you pop into the 12pm classes this summer. You are an amazing person and will be missed!

Seriously so sad to read this. Brogre - I don't know what we will do without you but I'm so happy that I could be sandwiched between you and my husband before your departure! Wishing you all the very best.

Man...thank you so much for the amazingly kind words. Also, thank you Traver (and I guess Malzone) for writing a very thoughtful, and funny post. When I came into CPC 3 years ago, it was to balance out my lifestyle so I could still enjoy my IPA pitchers at the Brewhouse. Three years later, while I still come to CPC to burn off beer calories and whatnot, the gym has become so much more than a place to sweat off a hangover. It has become a home. I have met some of the most incredible people here. Friends (and lovers...Limey) for a lifetime. My last 3 years in SB have been richer because of the community Eric and Traver have worked so hard to create. I have been broken down, built back up, and been given a close knit group of friends...now family that I realize I am lucky to have. I know not everyone has a community like this...and for that, I thank everyone at CPC. Leaving SB will be hard (especially when I am freezing my balls off in Syracuse), but knowing that CPC will be there when I get back makes my departure less traumatic. Until next time... Love- Brogre

I for one am thankful that you are going because frankly, you are just so damn nice, neat, intelligent, cogent, strong, loyal, helpful, courteous, kind, brave, clean and reverant that us average joes simply can't compete against you for the ladies. Now that you are going, maybe that will break up the log jam alittle. I will miss you alot brother! Aug

Brent - as everyone already has said and many more will say "We will miss you!" You are truly an amazing person and I wish you the best in the next chapter of your life - keep updating your workouts on the forum so we can keep track of you! (even if they are just study workouts or getting around the city workouts)

Here are few memories that will stick with me for quite awhile: 1. Brogre lifting the front of the rowing machine off the ground with his massive pull during a partner WOD. 2. Learning the terms "shuttle docking" and "shirt-c$%king" 3. And the icing on the cake (or tip, in this case) chasing a bloody period egg through Golden Gate Park wearing sperm unitards. Brogre: You are a truly amazing person, and I wish you nothing but the best in your new endeavor. You will be greatly missed. -Snyder
