LIST YOUR RESOURCES POR FAVOR.

Rockstar box squatting a lot less weight than it would appear!

As the challenge approaches, one of the absolute beauties of doing it with a community like ours is the sharing of resources such as recipes, websites, restaurants, local shopping areas, farmers market times and locations etc.

Eric and I are big fans of:

www.nomnompaleo.com
www.paleomama.com
www.paleoplan.com/recipes

If you haven’t read The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf, we highly recommend that during this period as well. It’s great to feel the changes that your body is going through, even better if you understand a bit of the science behind it as well.

We’re also big fans of Tri County Produce here in SB and of course, getting as much food as possible locally at any of the SB Farmers Markets. There’s one held right across the street from us on Saturdays that is an easy walk with free parking here at CPC. Rumor has it that you’ll get a discount if you shop either with a CPC shirt on or possibly shirtless too. (I just made that up, please don’t expect a discount)

Let’s hear it folks, please post to comments anything and everything that helped you along the way. The Whole Life Challenge website will also have a forum for us to post all of this in and more as well.

Today’s Workout:
Deadlift:
15min to find 1RM or 3RM
(if you’ve been training  for less than 6 months than go for a 3RM)
Tabata Row (cal)
2 Min rest

8 Min AMRAP:

KJ- Ryan makes the best beef jerky! Super easy and paleo : ) I like Elana's Pantry for recipes. I have found that you can modify most traditional recipes and make them paleo.

Here's some mental preparation posts that I've enjoyed reading. I found this blog after MDA posted 12 blogs you should follow: What to do when you have a crisis: http://paleononpaleo.com/paleo-crisis-overwhelm-tips/ In two months, there will probs be some sort of crisis in someone's life. I'm defending my dissertation and have no idea what life will look like in 2 months, so this is good mental prep for me. My favorites: be present, feel your emotions, and IF is appropriate. If you fail, don't kill yourself. Follow this advice instead: http://paleononpaleo.com/paleo-fail-4-mistakes/

For snacks, I'll usually make date balls with raw nuts in 'em (super portable and filling)...I'll take a minute this week to figure out my "nut ball" recipe, maybe I'll bring some to Thursday's shindig. We actually just "adopted" a grassfed quarter cow (it lives happily in our freezer) from Morris Grassfed Beef in preparation for this...BEST FREAKING BEEF EVER and it only cost us $6.50/lb - http://www.morrisgrassfed.com/index.php Other resources: Local CSAs: we use Plow 2 Porch (I like that they deliver to my door), but there are others out there. It's a good way to try things that you may not pick up at the market otherwise.

Question: will I get an award for increasing measurements post-whole life challenge? p.s. KJ - ask andy about his jerky operation. It has yet to begin, but he's been talking about it for a year.

Try making your own jerky, KJ. Let me know if it works, because I'll try it too!

Ok I'm freaking out about snacks. Where can I find jerky without any sugar in it?? Even the Steve's paleo kits jerky, he puts apple or pineapple juice concentrate in it. I need snack ideas, please help me!

chowstalker and nom nom paleo are my two favorites. Nom Nom specifically has some of the best food porn on the Internet. I would also recommend Marks Daily Apple (marksdailyapple.com) ... definitely an awesome resource.

Here are my two favorites: Paleomg.com – She is hilarious, made it to Crossfit Regional’s this year and her recipes are so yummy! Chowstalker.com – This site pulls recipes from a bunch of different paleo websites. A few others I check from time to time: Paleotable.com – recipes and weekly paleo meal plans/shopping lists Fastpaleo.com
