HERE FISHY FISHY FISHY…

KJ - killing the front squat!! (I love her elbows)

What supplements do you take personally?  This is a question that Eric, Jeff and I get all of the time.  Although I can’t speak for them, after years of experimenting with just about everything that GNC sells, I’m back to basics.  I take a packet of Emergency every morning with breakfast to get an extra dose of Vitamin C as well as our SFH fish oil (chocolate preferred) and protein powder after a workout.  That’s it.
Yes, I will make herbal formulas if I feel a cold coming on or have been around a lot of sick patients but to be honest, the above listed combo has kept me far healthier than I ever imagined considering how much exercise I’m doing and how many sick people I’m in contact with on almost a daily basis.  If I had to choose only one “supplement” to take every day it would be a no-brainer, and that’s the fish oil.  How much fish oil should you all be taking?  Great question.  Check out this FISH OIL CALCULATOR that Paleo Pioneer Robb Wolf put together for us.  It’s a great resource and something that you should all be familiar with.

so I put my information into the calculator and it said that I need 11 pills/tsp per day … doesn’t that seem a bit high?

In this pic I’m trying desperately to overcome every nerve in my body that’s shaky and anxious and just get to my happy place, thus eyes are closed and if I could I would not be facing the crowd :) major performance anxiety on Sat

KJ- the more you compete, the more you’ll learn to control and use that nervousness. In swimming, we used a lot of mental imagery and hypnosis to center ourselves. I have to admit that I still use what I learned back then.

Bowers- if you’re taking Stronger Faster Healthier fish oil that we have at the gym, you can switch the EPA to 1600 and DHA to 1700 (low estimates). I think you’ll find that MUCH more manageable. I take at least 1.5 tsp twice a day.

Yes, 11 pills is a LOT, but it’s correct if you’re taking the normal pills (Kirkland, GNC, etc). What SFH provides in the servings is OFF THE CHARTS!!! Now you know why we promote it so heavily and take it ourselves daily.

KJ this is your yoga style front squat! Oooommmmm lol.

I love fish oil and have been taking it for years. I really do notice that my joints feel so much better when I remember to take it. As for other supplements, I also take liquid iodine. I was told that since my diet does not include allot of seafood that iodine is very important for females, and needs to be supplemented if there are dietary constraints. Other than that Vit C, some B-12 when I need a pep-talk and that’s it!!

I have also found other ways to supplement remedies in my life the natural way. Not many of you know this, but my mother started an all organic natural line of soaps, lotions, tonics, skin care, and home care products. I have embraced some of her recipes and made them my own. For example Which hazel is wonderful for cleaning the skin (make-up remover or wound care), comfrey wraps are good to heal bone and skin bruising, tea tree oil in your humidifier is wonderful for breaking up congestion, and lavender oil is a great antiseptic…. For those of you who are looking into not just eating paleo but living paleo there are options out there for you… :0)

I guess I was in the sharing mood today.. ha ha. :0)

I’ve come to the conclusion that Zach is very good looking and Brett is also equally as good looking.

Awwwwh. Don’t pick on Brett,…he’s sensative. LOL!

KJ – GO GIRL!!! Look at those guns! Awesome pic.

As far as supplements go: I find that two daily servings of fermented grape juice do wonders for the heart and mentally numb me from the daily dealings of living under the same roof as Cupcake. Sorry lil’ Debbie – you’re not so bad really. :)

7

ahh, yes, much more manageable. Thanks!

Sometimes when Heather B has more than 2 glasses of fermented grape juice she reveals ‘Too Much Information’ to her roomies –If only I had some forum of friends and teammates to divulge such info..hmmmmmm.

…Bring it.
