DON’T DRINK YOUR CALORIES.
By
Check out this PDF that Zach sent us on the 20_Worst_Drinks_in_America_2010. Who would believe that a Sobe Green Tea Drink would be equivalent to 4 pieces of pie? That a Rock Star Energy Drink (the Fuel of CrossFit Ventura) would be equivalent to 6 Krispy Creme Donuts?
The battle for health and wellness is a tough one with a lot of the chips stacked up against us as consumers. Perhaps Vons will be so kind as to distribute this PDF in its beverage isle so that people actually get a grasp on what it is that their consuming every day (sometimes more than once a day). Which one was the most surprising to you? Please post to comments.

Guiness…Ahhh, mothers milk. And with far less calories then the stuff on this list. I honestly can’t believe the numbers on some of these drinks.

I came across this list about a week ago myself, and was shocked! I have am happy to have my simple black coffee with a splash of 2% milk… atleast I know the very simple ingredients in what I am drinking… I am very afraid of blended, ice creamed, shake looking drinks now… I am thinking the KISS statement works here yet again… in food and in drink…Keep it simple stupid… I know all the ingredients in beer and wine… and am fine with that lol!!!

Today’s lesson: if you’re going to drink beer, don’t eat any food
If you’re going to eat food, drink a vodka soda

A regular Coke/Pepsi has about 38-40 grams of sugar, equal to slightly less than 10 sugar cubes. This is a convenient benchmark. Often nutritional info does not list “sugar,” it lists “carbs.” In sweetened drinks, grams of carbs = grams of sugar. Therefore, one 22 oz. original Blenders in the Grass smoothie has 94 grams carbs = 94 grams sugar = over two Pepsis = about 20 sugar cubes. Yikes!
Next, we have to realistically consider alcohol. Lots of empty carbs in alcohol. On the other hand, there are also lots of empty calories in mixers. This is the thinking that usually leads me to drink Guinness with shots of Jamison’s back: No mixers = healthy drinking.

“Guinness is Good for You”
This was one my favorite signs in Ireland. Doctors actually prescribe 1 pint of Guinness per day for pregnant women in Ireland. I’m not saying it’s right…I’M JUST SAYIN’

Hey, just notice the Main Site posted this WOD last month, but without the round of Walking Lunge 100ft, 3 Pull Ups, 3 Sit Ups. I guess Main Site Crossfitters must tremble at the site of us.

Claw,
I think Traver, Eric, and Jeff are taking that “My Butt is Big,” add to heart and making sure you butt is shaped like a “C” and you like it… lunges = sexy behind!!

Perceptive as always, Jim. Anybody who’s experienced our version of the “12 Days of Christmas” will attest that we like to do things a little harder than most.

The mainsite caters to a lot of people that don’t live in beach towns and therefor don’t have the need for functionally movable perfect backsides – like we do.

I would argue that everyone needs a perfect, functionally movable backside, if simply to make the day more bearable. Mainsite should address this short coming. STAT!
