1 YEAR OF AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!

Day 1 from Crossfit Pacific Coast on Vimeo.

June 22, 2009 - June 22, 2010. Awesome.

Well folks we made it!  Back when we were in the construction phase of putting CPC together, Eric and I told Sandy that he would have to come to our Christmas Party.  His quick reply was, “…if you’re still in business by Christmas…”

Today, ladies and gentlemen is CPC’s official 1 Year Anniversary!  To say that it’s been a wild year for Eric and I is a MASSIVE understatement.  From our Grand Opening to our first Fiesta to our first competition at CFV, watching Nick open CF Goodland, River, to the Christmas Party, Coach Baker coming on board, Los Prietos Boys Camp, The Warrior Dash and beyond – it truly has been the best year of our lives.

How did this all happen you ask?  Very simply – we had ridiculously, awesomely, huge amounts of support.  From that first day when CPC was nothing more than a text message between Eric and I up until this very morning, we have been overwhelmed by the level of support from within both the CrossFit community and our personal communities as well.

CPC would not have gotten off of the ground without the help from both of our immediate families and close friends, as well as from our extended families at CFLA, Lalanne Fitness, Paradiso CrossFit, and CrossFit Ventura.

CPC would not exist today were it not for all of you – our members.  Today Eric and I are letting out a huge sigh of relief that we’ve made it through year 1 and we’re taking the day off to enjoy Santa Barbara.  Today we will raise our glasses to CrossFit Pacific Coast and to the all of you amazing people that allow us to live with health, fitness, and ridiculousness as the governing themes of our lives.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you – each and everyone one of you - who has contributed to our getting this far this year.  We’ve laughed more than we ever could have hoped to, we’ve gotten dust in our eyes a few times (stupid dust) from emails and testimonials that you’ve sent us and on a few rare moments when the day’s mayhem is complete and the gym is quiet we believe that we’ve both found a sense of purpose as well as a sense of peace.  Most importantly we’ve discoved something that had been missing from both of our lives for far too long – a community to call our own.  We love you all and look forward to spending another year together with you.

- Traver and Eric

So far in my month of being there my favorite memory has been being able to do a push-up. Thanks guys! :) Hopefully I can get 2 someday. Congrats on your accomplishment! It's hard work and perseverance that got you where you are. Here's to 15 yr anniversary. It will come faster than you think.

Congratulations Traver & Eric, and I'm really happy you're doing so well with CPC, but it's also pretty obvious why you're succeeding: you're both great guys. I'm really glad I found CPC (except when I'm not, like right before showing up). And I have to echo the other comments that say that a great part of CPC is everybody else--what a great, friendly, supportive bunch of [crazy] people. Favorite moments (counting down): #4: Knocking 4 minutes off my baseline workout (of course that was made easy by having a truly putrid initial time) #3: Having Migs come alongside me for my dying last lap around the block. #2: Seeing you guys at Los Prietos Boys' Camp (and by the way I think it's about time to do it again!) #1: Every time I get to the end of another workout and say "Wow, I'm still alive!" ...Chuck

Congratulations Traver and Eric on year 1 of awesomeness!!! Much love to you both! Topping the list in fave memories is the 4th of July BBQ extravaganza complete with Pork Roll, F*ck Yeah cookie and A-Train's amazing brownie delight!! I'm sure most, if not all, of the aforementioned delights will be back this year. That's just how we roll at CPC.

Happy Anniversary Guys!! This is the first of many I'm sure. I'm quite new, so don't have a favorite memory yet. But I'm so glad I found CPC, I love the people I've met so far and enjoy and every workout... especially after it's done :)

Congrats guys! My favorite memories are as follows, in no order. Lunchtime workouts last summer, falling hard for crossfit. Getting my first pull up, first set of three pull ups and now going on five dead hangs, woot getting my pic on the site for the first time. Watching Sondra do a pull up watching christina become Hogans hearing the crack of KJ's pull up band months and months ago.. Explicit! Ow! Watching migs do kettlebell wod in jeans. ( no as perverted as it sounds! I enjoyed the concept of the Street clothes wod!) I remember when sholessness was not a crime. Dropping it like it was hot on the dancefloor on X- Mas with baker eating peanut butter footballs on super BOWL Sunday at hogans' seeing my brother and best friend crush a wod getting 101 double unders in a row. Eff you Traver, I'm comin for ya. J/k Falling for rivie and bonding over poop walks warrior bacon dash affiliate challenge, making our presence known. Buying fielding a beer for killing said challenge, eating Mexican food that evening, Reaching wod induced altered states of conciousness. Celebrating all of Ambers accomplishments cheering for Jaala, matt and Traver at regionals completing barefoot murph in the funk zone learning the shoulder warm up from zeb meeting Lindsay k and her epic paleo goodness doing 150 burpies for time then playing guitar at open mic like a cripple hanging out at fieldings house and doing insane backyard/livingroom/schoolyard wods daily schenannegans like Phil ripping his shorts, dj Eric throwing down, and those 8 little words... " okay guys, in three, two, one, go!" I love you guys, thanks for the memories this past year, all the encouragement, friendship and support. We are blessed! more to come...

Congratulations Eric and Traver, CPC has become apart of my everyday life, not just a place to workout. It is a community of great people that share something in common that others may not understand or are able to handle. It is a lifestyle and I am proud to be a part of it. It seems like no matter how hard my day is going, Crossfit wipes away any stress I may be having! There are no limitations in Crossfit or in life except the ones we make. Let's all set new goals and work hard together to reach them! Cheers to everyone at CPC, I love all of you! Thank you Eric, Traver, Baker and River for helping me get stronger everyday! Work harder on yourself than you do on your job! - Otsen Otsen

Congrats to finding your passion... it makes life a great adventure. Many things standout at CPC but what seems most obvious is Traver and Eric's priorities and care for their members. If you get a chance to read the mission statement by the stereo it is quite clear that Traver and Eric take it seriously. CPC is certainly a place where members matter most. Sometimes it is just little things, like the day I had the tummy ache. Traver suggested I make some ginger tea. He even followed up with a text to see if I was doing alright. You don't forget that kind of stuff. What I like most about this gym is bringing friends and seeing them enjoy the place and meeting the amazing people who make CPC such a great place to workout. As Jeff says in the video, "I just belong to this really great gym and if you want to know what it is about, you should just come in and check it out" Thanks Traver and Eric and the early morning crew for pushing me beyond what I thought I could do.

Congrats Traver and Malzone! Like Cill said, every time I visit is an unforgettable experience. Your enduring friendship, killer programming, awesome community, and scathing wit all contribute to what makes CPC really special. I remember Alyssa, Eddie, and myself waking up butt ass early to get to Trav's first 6am, and she whispers to us, 'It's Angie.' And we were like, 'NO!' Watching Heayn's messed up knee on Fourth of July weekend to you guys taking me as a stowaway for one week were each unforgettable and ridiculously fun. You guys are creating something fierce and beautiful up there. I told Traver before CPC opened, that I have no fear for him or his success, because it's been said all it takes to be successful for a CF box is commitment and enthusiasm. And no one's got both in combination better than Traver and Malzone. Cheers guys.

Congratulations, Eric and Traver…I am so happy for you guys! I feel so lucky to be a part of such a great thing and all the thanks goes to the two of you for making it all happen! Every workout is a challenge, but it is because of your continued positive encouragement and support through every single workout that makes me want to be there everyday and push myself even harder. My favorite memories of CPC are ongoing but the things that I love most are the results, the competitiveness, great friends, good laughs and the overall positive support that everyone brings when they walk into the gym...these are few of the many things that make CPC SO awesome and keeps me coming back for more! Congrats and much love to you both (& Riv), you have done a great job! I look forward to spending another amazing year together, with many more memories to come. Have fun celebrating today!

Congratulations guys, I'm so happy for you!! What an accomplishment, you should both be very proud!! I remember after my first month at CPC I was praying more people would join because I was worried the gym would close- there were only a few pics on the board for a while. Now look at CPC, it is growing like a wild fire! My fav memories are: 1. The day Donnie finally decided to try CPC because he noticed my back and arms looking toned :) 2. Last summer's lunch time workouts with Kate, Baker, & Fielding. 3. My first CFV competition 4. The first WOD I did with Su, Miguel, Nick, and Crossley- I was scared to death of all of them 5. The Christmas party & Warrior Dash I love this gym and everyone in it. Everyone I've met is so nice, helpful, encouraging and just E-ffing AWESOME!

HUGE congrats, guys! It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling to know that the army of CPCers is out there every day, picking up heavy shit and defending the world from the zombie apocalypse. I'm proud to be an honorary member of the box.

I couldn't be happier for you guys (and me as well). I feel so lucky that you had the vision and the fortitude to make it all happen. My favorite memory is ongoing, it's every time I walk into the gym, I immediately feel the love and support that you both offer up so graciously, or....maybe it's the bacon bunny...or....o crap I just got some dust in my eye. gotta go. Love to you both.

It's hard to think of a best memory, but it is probably the first day I came in for my Baseline WOD, knowing there was finally a Crossfit gym to call my own. I had no idea Traver, Eric, and River would be so awesome as owners, and I had no idea the members would be so awesome, either. That was simply a bonus. Congratulations to you on a first year that is, well, what's the word I'm looking for?.... Oh yeah, AWESOME! The Claw

Huge props to you guys for all your success. We all owe you a debt of gratitude for changing our lives for the better and brining us all together. There have been so many amazing CPC memories from the last year that I can't pick just one so I'll name a few. -My very first WOD at CPC, it was Nancy, and THAT was baptism by fire. -The Grand Opening with at least 60 or more Crossfitters doing the Top Gun WOD. "She lost that lovin' feelin', oh oh that lovin' feelin'" I still can't get over Chris Lalanne actually singing that song. -The first Fiesta with the CPC crew was EPIC! -Saturday morning beach WODs, I'm glad they're back. -Our first Paleo Challenge. I still get slightly faint at the thought of it. -The first Central Coast Competition at Ventura was an amazing experience and taught me a lot about myself and Crossfit. -The first CPC Christmas party, words can't even begin to describe and I don't know that it can ever be duplicated. From the flip cup tourney to "The Night Before Crossfit", it was truly a night to remember. -Ringing in the New Year with some of the CPC crew at the Wild Cat. -Getting my Level 1 Certification and beginning a new profession as a Crossfit Coach -Going to Sectionals and watching all my friends compete in a very amazing display of athleticism. -Warrior Dash and the creation of bacon wrapped smores. -And throughout the year, meeting all the awesome new gym members who have helped to shape our world into what it's become. In the last year I have had the time of my life and I can't think of a better group of people to share that time with.

Yeah!!! Congrats you two!!! In all my life of going to gyms, taking booty boot camps, and ab busters, I have never found the love, support, community and pure awesomeness that CPC has provided!! Congrats on your 1st year in business. I am so honored to be a part of it!! Hmmm favorite memory…that’s a tough one…but I think it has to be between killing my Grace Time and my hung over attempt at the Beach WOD!!!

HUGE CONGRATS!!! Love you both bunches and bunches!!!! The CPC memories are SO MANY, but I most certainly remember getting up at 4:30am one year ago today and driving up to Santa Barbara with Zeb and Eddie so we could make it to your 1st CPC class EVER at 6am. Enjoy this epic day.

Sooooo close... Don't get off the bar! I CRUSHED my PR, but fell 3 seconds short of Fielding's record 8:56. Nice job Fielding for setting the standard and again I have to send out more props to Eric and Traver training me up to this level. I couldn't have do today's time without your help. PS Traver, you looked sharp...Own your speech today!

Congrats Eric and Traver I'm proud of you as I didn't think you had it in you...at all. But you proved me wrong for the first time so I'll pat you on the back! No in all seriousness I'm glad to be a part of such a great thing. CPC has now been en-grained as a extremely positive part of my life and I honored to get after it with so many great people. Cheers and I look forward to the 2 year celebration next year! Brett you better bring it..I'm aiming at your time at 5:30...

Congratulations guys! I have to say without you I would have never completed Muscle Ups or Double Unders, both of which I did pretty well yesterday! I have met some great friends and can't wait to go to the gym every day. In fact it is time for me to go and CRUSH Helen, 11:10 is my PR so lets see how bad I make this Biatch look...
