CROSSFIT AT THE FIREHOUSE!
ByStation 1 Firefighters, please meet our friend Mr. Tabata!
Last Tuesday Eric and I had awesome opportunity to head down to Fire Station 1 and run a bunch of the firefighters through some basic CrossFit exercises! Who better to develop an increase in functional strength, cardiovascular endurance, balance and flexibility than those people who put their lives on the line for us everyday. The firefighters that showed up got to experience the joys of Tabata sit ups, and a whole bunch of burpees, squats and push ups! We’d love to say that one of them got to give Pukie a ride-a-long, but we’ll have to wait until we’re there again to pull that off. Congrats to Jeremy, Olga, Kell, Brandon, Joe, and Rich for making it through your very first CrossFit workout!
Today’s Workout:
5K Run for time.
(Yep, we all knew it was coming eventually)

hmm… this 5k I see posted above is interesting… I really thought you guys were saving the running until AFTER the POSE seminar… mean boys. Running is my all time enemy, so I’ll be there to punch my enemy in the face and then kick it in the shin.
I’m wondering if it will it be 12 laps around the building or is there a safe place for us 6:30pm-ers to run?
Oh my god I’m already scared. Damn it

KJ,
Kick in the shin first to distract, then punch in the face…
Have fun!

KJ- How would you know how well POSE is working for you if you didn’t have a 5k time to reference? We do it all for you.
The route is scenic, well lit, and public.

I’m still freaking out.

What is the route? (Not that the answer will affect whether I come in.

Its up to the beach and hang a left. You go all the way down a little past the bathhouse and then turn around. That comes a little short of the 5k, so we’re adding in a 400m loop right at the beginning.
Traver and I will have some lawn chairs with a cooler cheering you guys on.

KJ – don’t worry at all. I just ran the entire course (in my mind) and it was no problem. You’ll breeze right through it. You can also pretend that the homeless people are zombies and practice your avoidance techniques.

Ran through it in your mind!! HA! If i bring you guys cookies can I do a diff WOD?
Honestly, I may need to skip the warm up and begin early so I can actually finish.

Bring the cookies and we’ll discuss. KJ- think about how many times you’ve run 1.5mi in a WOD PLUS all the other things we ask you to do. All you’re doing today is running 3.1 miles and that’s it.
